Evaluation of different combinations of insecticides and biopesticides for the management of fruit flies infesting bitter gourd

Fruit flies have been a constant threat to agricultural commodities from the distant past and management of pest is very difficult. To reduce pesticide pressure slow down development resistance, different combinations insecticides biopesticides were evaluated against fruit flies. When rotated with in three spray schedule (applied at an interval 10 days) 12 for their efficacy as well economic viability bitter gourd, combination C2 [azadirachtin (0.01%) - spinosad (0.002%) λ-cyhalothrin (0.004%)] minimum infestation (17.39% infestation), maximum yield (12.03 kg/plant) avoidable loss value (58.10%) was found most efficacious but Incremental Benefit Cost Ratio (IBCR) computed quite low (2.17:1). The C7 [B. bassiana (1×1010 CFU/gm) (0.004%) (0.002%)] next order effectiveness also economically viable higher IBCR (13.25:1). (C1 C5) which azadirachtin formulation applied first spray, low, due high price biopesticide. All test superior control (C12), wherein only water sprayed.
